  • Update time

Hey everyone.  Okay so I am behind....sorry so quick update and a photo year in review in basic chronological order.  So the update...since last November stopped working as a teacher and principal at Skyward, started to work for an interior design company (i know pretty crazy huh?), then now working for a Christian non-profit org called Children's Hunger Fund.  Also have been a part of a new church plant in Santa Clarita....Pathway Bible Church.  You can read the backstory at my friend Richard's xanga....I would also recommend his music too.  http://www.xanga.com/richards2d

  • ...must blog....sorry for the wacky editing

Okay so here is a foretaste of a coming entry.  Just little snippets of what has been happening.IMG_0416

IMG_0381 Dropped off Enrique at UCLA.  This is Ping and me on his bed...(or is it his roomies bed).  Ping is sporting her Cal Bears T Shirt (way too small now for her head and chubby belly), and Dad is wearing his CAL cap.  GO BEARS!

Happy Halloween.  Guess who we are!  (Well Abigail is admittedly the black sheep of the family dress up time...or the green sheep as is the case)

So we went out trick-or-treating with out neighbors.  Really a great time to spend with them, talking along the way, and it is a great time to meet neighbors.  Either they are  out and about with their kids, or they open their doors to strangers and give candy and are generally friendly.  In a neighborhood where we don't usually see our neighbors except the fleeting time we see them as their garage door is closing, this is great.  On our way back home we purposefully stopped by our neighbors' houses that were closest to us.  We had an opportunity to get to know them and find out ways to serve and care for them for the sake of them knowing Christ the Lord and the gospel.  So good times and the added benefit of free candy!  Learning a lot about being in a community long term and ministering the gospel over the long haul, thankful as we reflect that what we are doing now for the sake of the gospel is really no different than what we would be doing in any other country, rejoicing in the wife that God has given me and praising Him for how many she lives she touches for Christ through the kitchen He has given her.

Here is our spread for Thanksgiving #1.  We had my parents and Jen's parents and Jonathan (Jen's brother) at our house.  We had the usual IMG_0704Fusion Turkey/Chinese Food meal.  Sooo good.  Ping is sitting at the table waiting to pray so she can start eating.

Here is Thanksgiving #2  at my Uncle's place.  So just to let you know about my family gatherings.  On average when we get together we are eating for about 3-4 hours.  After that we sing karaoke for another 3-4 hours.  It doesn't matter if it is thanksgiving, Christmas, Arbor Day, Flag Day.  This particular meal I think there were about 8 dishes maybe 9 and then 6 desserts!

  • Now the two big things in July....first I am on my second interview with this
company that does the interiors of McD's or El Pollo.  I applied as a project
manager through the recommendation of Richard and the grace and
provision of our good God.  How in the world would I have ever gotten a
first let alone second interview for a job like this!?  Well that interview is
on Tuesday 8/1.  We praise God for His care and love through the Lee's
and the body of CBC.  We are trully privilaged to be a part of what God is
     doing here locally.

2nd thing....the arrival of our second mouth, second pair of feet and hands,
second opportunity for discipleship, and second wonderful blessing from
    God.

Mom and Abby are doing very well.  We have been home for about 2 days
and have found that Abby is pretty mellow and loves running water...weird.

Some ask how Ping takes to Abby (aka Ling Ling)....well see for yourself

thanks so much for all your prayers.  xanga fire going out....go....on.....
    .....save...yourself....

  • okay still in june..... there was this mass birthday party for all the summer
birthdays.  we had bbq, cake, water fights, volleyball...etc.  here are some
highlights....hey it's all about the kids right?

then we had Tim, Chie and Mitsuki (aka Mabu) getting ready to move to
Washington.  We miss you guys!!  But as they were packing this continued
to give opportunity to fan the flame of the Mabu Ping Ping thing.

    ok drum roll please.............J U L Y

favorite pingo pics from july......okay 1 more until the xanga flame burns out

  • okay last time i got to may....i know i know we are in july and the end of it
     no less....so...here are some
    highlights continuing in

    April

we went on a family trip eventually to Oregon.  We stopped off in the Bay
Area and saw Uncle Stephen.  He gave Ping some "treasures".  Then we
drove up to Klamath with my mom and dad to see their condo there.

Eventually we (all the Chou's and the Chun's) all met up on the central
    coast of Oregon.

    Weather was cold.

We did some crabbing when it wasn't raining.  We actually got to see a
huge (about 15 foot long) male sea lion from the dock.  Trying to grab our
    crab bait (skinned mink).

And par for the course, of course we had great eats.

At the end of April we did some outdoorsy stuff.  Ania (Hannah Davis' sister)
and Mrs. Philips stayed at our place as they helped prepare for Kyle and
Hannah's wedding.  So one day we went to the park.

then some of the moms and kids went to the LA Zoo.

Which brings us to MAY... we discovered that ping really, really,
really, really likes dada's bbq ribs.

then Kyle and Hannah's wedding complete with Taco truck and all.... (sorry
we didn't get any pics of that...)

JUNE...(almost to the present....) we went down to Paradise El
Centro. Grandpa and Grandma also found out about Ping's love for pork
products.  We also had Nathaniel Jackson (aka Abby's fiance, aka Uncle Nay Nay) with us and we got to put him through the gauntlet before he

proposed to Abi.  He painted and sanded our dresser (aka the black hole of

effort).  He painted Ping's new room....no just kidding.  He was such a

servant who humbly cared for us and helped us get ready for our 2nd one.

Thanks to God for Nathaniel's heart to serve and care, and for the sweet

    fellowship.

For one of the Friday nights we had a Ghetto Chef Night where the secret
ingredient was Masa (the corn flour that they use to make tamales).
Everybody was very impressive, so much so that we should open up a CBC
restaurant.  I think people are watching too much food network.... ;D

    here are the teams...

from left to right, team 1 had a masa batter dipped steak over watercress
and other greens, and vanilla ice cream with a masa/tempura cookie.
Team 2 had the Bacon, mushroom, masa ball with bacon wrapped around
it, asparagus shoots, and i forgot what they had for dessert.  sorry guys,
if you let me know i will put it in.  team three had a masa battered steak
pan fried with mango salsa, and a tropical yogurt parfait with masa in it
    somehow.  oops forgot.

    here are the distuinguished judges....

at the end of the judging we had a three way tie.  the tie breaker came
down to how the teams spent their money, time, and used their specific
kitchen tool.  then it came to two teams and then...although we should
probably have let the other teams vote (since we all had tastes of it as
well)...we decided to break the tie this way.  the physical challenge...

the goal was to do a set course with the fastest time.  danny went first and
did surprisingly well.  mike went next and ....well....he never really left the
starting blocks.  although if he went backwards he would have finished in
    no time at all.
